Imagine being able to explore the coast of Alabama but by kayak! Taking a kayak excursion with Coastal Kayak Excursions was one the highlights of our recent trip to Gulf Shores-Orange Beach Alabama.
My family and I were provided with a complimentary kayaking experience to help facilitate this review. All opinions are of course my own. This post may contain affiliate links ahead.
Great Family Experience
First, I have to say that this is an incredible family experience. It’s a great way to unplug, enjoy your family, admire nature around you, plus it’s great exercise too! I personally think kayaking is very relaxing, almost therapeutic.Kayaking is something we really enjoy doing together as a family, especially on vacation. Who can complain about sitting in a kayak as the beautiful scenery passes you by? One of these days, we are going to buy our own kayaks.
Total Gem in Gulf Shores
When you think about going to the Gulf Shores, you may not know what to do for fun. Coastal Kayak Excursions can only be classified as a total gem. If you don’t do it, you’re totally missing out. Plus, going on a tour with someone who knows so much about the area, such as Captain Glen, truly makes it exciting!
The Total Experience
Our experience began by getting on a 40-foot pontoon boat. The kids really enjoying spotting out the dolphins. Of course, on any given day, there is no guarantee you will see dolphins swimming nearby, but Captain Glen did his very best navigating the pontoon boat for some dolphin encounters.
My Thoughts
If you think kayaking is difficult, it really isn’t. Our daughter was able to navigate the kayak by herself. In past, we have kayaked in tandems but this time we decided to let her kayak solo! She did a great job and got the hang of it quickly! With the help of Captain Glen of course!
He did a fantastic job guiding her along the way. Coastal Kayak Excursions goes through a quick orientation with you and teaches you everything you need to know.
The beautiful part of kayaking is you get to explore parts of the Alabama Coast that are not accessible by boat. Of course, there’s a lot going on in the ocean, but there’s also a lot to see outside in the woods and along the beaches. I would recommend if you are wanting to take photos of your kayaking experience, to keep your phone in a protective waterproof phone case.
If I could describe our kayaking excursion in one word, it would be breathtaking.
We had an awesome guide, who knew a ton of the area. Captain Glen was fabulous to go kayaking with and if we’re ever in the area again, you better believe we’ll be taking another kayak excursion with Coastal Kayak Excursions.
We always enjoy kayaking on our vacations, and we are so thankful to Captain Glen for making this kayaking experience and personal tour extra special.

I’ve always been a little bit of afraid to go kayaking as I’m also a little bit afraid of water but the instructor really seems to be patient. My son’s love it but my daughter is like me – we stay on dry land and take pics of their experiences 🙂

I used to take people canoeing and kayaking as part of my job. I really enjoyed it. My kids are ages 6 and 8 and I would love to take them kayaking sometime. I was thinking about buying kayaks, but renting is a much better idea. The less I have to haul on a nature outing the better. I have never been Kayaking in Alabama, I’m am from up North, but it sure looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing your experience.
