Road Tripping to Missouri in the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Diesel

When given the opportunity to drive to Branson, Missouri in a beautiful and brand new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, I didn’t even need to think about any other options. Spending 12 hours driving on the road was going to be a challenge in itself, so I knew that it had to be done in a car that was smooth, comfortable and up for the duration of the 800-plus miles that we’d be on the road. A big thanks to Chevrolet for providing this vehicle for our road trip and review. All opinions are our own.
Taking a roadtrip with my good friend Charlotte, from My Peachy Queendom, makes for a pretty fun road trip. We set out on this 12-hour drive from Georgia making stops into Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, then finally to Missouri. And, of course, we had to stop along the way for some great photos opps.
Not only was the Chevrolet Equinox perfect for this road trip, its features that were installed and available to us were top-notch. To say I’m picky about the cars I drive and ride in isn’t necessarily true, but I do like to find a vehicle that is safe, practical and of course stylish.

Safety Features of the Chevrolet Equinox

I travel a lot so safety is a top priority for me no matter what vehicle I am in. Chevy makes safety their priority. When we were going through Tennessee we did drive through some snow. I was so impressed with the way the Equinox handled itself through these road conditions. I was not even the slightest nervous driving the Equinox through these circumstances.

One thing that I was amazed by right away with the Chevrolet Equinox was that it was equipped with quite the list of safety features. A total perk for sure. Equipped with airbags for the driver and front-seat passenger is a great feature, but also an awesome feature that caught my eye and wowed me even more? The option for a Teen Driver mode. Seriously, how cool is that? If you have an up and coming driver in your home, I know I do, there is actually a safety feature installed in the Chevrolet Equinox that lets you customize certain vehicle settings to ensure that safety is a top priority for your teen driver. If that isn’t safety first, I don’t know what is.

The Chevrolet Equinox Has Storage Space Galore

Packing for a road trip means that we had to be prepared with a ton of different clothing options. We are women who overpack, right? So, we didn’t skimp on the luggage that was tossed in the trunk.

Even after ALL the items that we needed for this trip were packed, there was still ample room left over for us to fill with all our fun finds from our Branson, Missouri trip. And just between you and me? One of the features that I loved the most was the fact that when our hands were just too full from carrying all those “must-have” items that we found on our trip, we could activate the opening of the trunk storage space with the simple wave of our foot. Hands-free is definitely the way to be.

Wi-Fi For Miles

Never once during our entire trip did we feel disconnected from our friends or family. Due to the fact that there is a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, we were able to do everything that we needed to do at any point in time, without having to use the data on our phone or waste time getting in and out of the car searching for a place that we could use their wi-fi services. Chevrolet really upped the bar by having this awesome feature! It definitely spoiled us on the road trip, and I’m wondering know how life will ever be the same when traveling without that amazing Wi-Fi hotspot option.

Bluetooth Beauty

If you’re looking for an SUV that is truly hands-free, trust me when I say that the Chevrolet Equinox takes the cake. As if the wi-fi capability wasn’t enough, it’s also equipped with Bluetooth technology as well allowing you to sync up for your phone or your own playlist to literally not ever have to take your hands off the wheel when you drive. Charlotte and I were jamming to some classic 80’s music from our favorite playlist all the way to Missouri and back.

Chevrolet Equinox Diesel Has Excellent Fuel Economy

Let’s be truthful…stopping and filling up with diesel can be quite expensive, but it can also be a bit of a drag when you’re driving halfway across the country. We were amazed by the gas mileage we were able to get with the Chevrolet Equinox. Once we hit the open road, we were averaging upwards of upwards of 39 MPG! For an 800-plus mile road trip, it felt as though we literally never had to stop to fill up with gas. Round trip from Georgia to Missouri and back home, I believe we estimated a total spent of around $100 in Diesel gasoline. Pretty amazing, huh?

Not only were we impressed with the performance and handling of the Chevrolet Equinox, we loved the OnStar feature added. It helped guide us to our destinations without getting lost.

Having it as the vehicle of choice for our road trip to Missouri was absolutely the best choice for us and our traveling needs. If it’s time for a bit of a vehicle upgrade for you and your family, give the Chevrolet Equinox real consideration and take one out for a spin. You may find that it’s the perfect fit for all your needs. It’s definitely going to be a contender for our family when it’s time for us to make that vehicle upgrade!
