Last year during our stay in Pawleys Island, we had read wonderful reviews and heard from the locals this is the top pick of restaurants in Murrels Inlet. It was unfortunate however the wait was super long and with our large family of hungry children and grandchildren, we just couldn’t make it work. This year we were determined no matter what! We were so happy to hear that they do call ahead sitting & reservations now to take care of the long wait times. Either way we know now that if we had to wait it would have been well worth it anyways!
The Wicked Tuna is unique and special in the Murrels Inlet area, as it is the only restaurant that provides fresh fish daily brought directly off their fishing charter boats. They serve fresh Mahi Mahi, Grouper, and Sea Bass just to name a few.
There were several locations throughout the restaurant where you can dine, but we chose to dine outside. If it is a gorgeous day, I highly recommend sitting outside under the covered patio area. The views in the back of the restaurant are breathtaking overlooking the boats and the Marsh Walk.
Before we sat down , Scott the General Manager took my family and I on a tour. He was very proud of his restaurant, as so he should be! The very first thing I took note of was their sushi and raw bar! The Wicked Tuna is also known for their wide selection of fresh sushi made fresh throughout the day and ordered to your liking. If you didn’t know me already, I am a huge sushi fan! Their selection will surely please your sushi cravings!
The restaurant recently added the outside bar area and plan to offer football tailgating this Fall. Being a big college football fan, my husband got really excited about this! A beautiful bar area, with gorgeous floors I might add, and flat screen televisions surrounding makes for a perfect football hangout.
For starters, our lovely waitress recommended trying the Dragon Egg -a halved avocado stuffed with cream cheese, smoked salmon, blue, king, and spicy crab drizzled with spicy mayo and sweet glaze. It was divine!
I also had a fresh Summer Salad that was not only pretty to look it was refreshing and light and oh so good. It had strawberries, pecans, cheese crumbles, dried cranberries and a raspberry vinaigrette.
My son had the delicious Mahi Mahi served with roasted red pepper sauce and Mac & Cheese. He dug in before I could get a good photo of his entrée.
My husband had the Grilled Grouper served with mashed potatoes , grouper being one of their most popular items on the menu. You will see why! The taste was out of this world amazing! As you can see he also had already taken a bite before I could get the first photo! They were hungry.
Can’t forget about dessert! Someone was walking around to every table after you have ate to present a beautiful display of their amazing desserts. Yes the display was the real deal. Oh my goodness it was so hard to choose!
Finally, my son and I decided to split the Strawberry Cheesecake & Graham Cracker. It will satisfy your sweet cravings for days – it was so delightful. Our overall experience with the Wicked Tuna Restaurant was second to none! It is now my favorite in Murrels Inlet, SC. We definitely will be back soon! In fact my husband was so impressed from the ambiance and experience, he is planning on bringing his co-workers here for fun, football, food and fishing in September.
