The Big Ketch Is Truly Southern Coastal At Its Best
My family and I had the pleasure of dining at The Big Ketch in Roswell a few weeks ago. Tagged as “bringing the soul of the Southern Coast to the Heart of Atlanta,” The Big Ketch does just that. I received a complimentary meal for this review, but all opinions are my own.
Immediately walking up, you can’t help but to admire the beautiful outdoor patio. I cannot wait to enjoy some warmer weather here in Atlanta! Their outdoor patio is great for enjoying the LIVE music that they offer on certain nights. As soon as you walk in, you will be impressed with the inside decor. This place really warms your soul with the beach feel. It was so hard to imagine we were not near water.
With The Big Ketch’s awards and mentions reading like an honour roll roster I knew we were in for a true seafood experience. Just look at the recommendations this restaurant receives:

Our evening began with fresh boiled peanuts brought to the table as a starter. This is a Southern favourite of mine and had my heart smiling. I knew we were in good hands with that added touch.
Appetizers at The Big Ketch
For appetizers, we had the Sweet & Spicy Calamari. It was the perfect calamari. We were all wanting more. The mango sauce made this dish extra good.
Entrees at The Big Ketch
My son chose the Grouper lightly blackened with extra hushpuppies. It was nice and fresh, just perfect according to his standards. He raved about the collard greens as well and he does not eat everyone’s collards. But his favorite probably would have to be the hushpuppies. In his words, “The hushpuppies were fantastic!” and he would have ordered two more plates of them if he could.
Salmon was my selection, ordered with a jerk-style seasoning, and I must say this was by far the best salmon I have had in some time. My sides were good too. I had the white cheese grits and a Ceasar salad.
Sea Bass was the catch of the day and a favorite of my husband’s so he ordered that and he gave this two thumbs up. It was perfectly prepared and again he also would have loved for seconds!
My youngest had the fried shrimp and corn on the cobb. No complaints here.
Note* Kids eat for $1.99 per paying entree Monday through Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 PM. That is always a great deal when you are feeding a large family such as myself.
Finally, you can’t forget about dessert! The kids dug into their delicious sweets before I could snap photos. I did manage to take a photo of the Key Lime Pie after a bite was already savored.
We had a very good experience and truly enjoyed ourselves. All the seafood was fresh and The Big Ketch prides themselves on fresh, never frozen.
The serving size was just right and what I feel is perfect for healthy eating habits. Of course, we wanted more, but it was that good. As a family who loves fresh seafood, we were very satisfied. The Big Ketch is a first class act with the freshness of their seafood.
I can’t wait to check out some of their other delicious menu items, as well as their sister location in Buckhead for next time!
