Easy Homemade Biscuits

Can we all just agree that homemade biscuits are the best? There’s nothing quite like making up your own biscuits and using them for the best Instant Pot Biscuits and Gravy or just buttering them up so enjoy as is.

Since this recipe literally only takes 3 simple ingredients to make, you can be certain that you probably already have everything on hand that you need.

When the kids and hubby are craving something fast, these homemade biscuits are my go-to recipe. Full of flavor and taste, they’re always a win all the way around.

What can I use instead of a biscuit cutter?

If you don’t have a biscuit cutter, don’t worry! All you really need to do is turn a cup upside down and use the rim instead. It’s literally as simple as that and you’ll have a round biscuit with ease.

Sometimes hacks in the kitchen are one of the best parts of cooking!

Why are my homemade biscuits hard?

More than likely, if your biscuits are hard, you overworked them when you were rolling out the dough. Many people don’t realize that biscuits don’t take a lot of work and the dough needs to be handled as little as possible.

The more that you roll them out and handle them, the better chance that you’re going to have that your biscuits are going to be hard.

How do you make hard biscuits soft?

Have no fear, though. Because if you do happen to have hard biscuits, you can zap them in the microwave to help them soften up. (or just dump a bunch of gravy on them as well!)

Put a little bit of butter on your made from scratch biscuits and pop them in the microwave for about 20 seconds or so. This will have them softened up in no time at all!

Ingredients to make Homemade Biscuits

As I mentioned earlier, this recipe just has three simple ingredients that you need to worry about. More than likely, you already have them in your home!

  • Self-Rising Flour
  • Buttermilk
  • Butter

If you don’t have your own buttermilk, don’t worry. You can easily use regular milk to make your own buttermilk.

Can I make my own buttermilk?

Yep, you sure can! To make your own buttermilk at home you just need to use 1 cup of milk and stir in 1 T of vinegar. Just like that, you’ve made your very own homemade buttermilk!
