Spicy Chicken Biscuits – Made With Real Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits

Even just reading the title of the recipe sends my taste buds into overdrive.  The amazing blend of spices that are paired up and used throughout, made with cayenne pepper and paprika. If you are a lover of all things spice like I am, the spicier the better! Not only does this recipe knock it outta the park with the cajun spicy chicken, but the homemade biscuits are seriously crazy good as well.

Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits Made In The Cast Iron Skillet:

If you’ve never had a homemade biscuit straight from the cast iron skillet, you are seriously missing out. The flavors that come through are enough to challenge any chicken and biscuits meal that you can get at any restaurant. While this recipe may take a bit of time to prep and make, trust me when I say it’s 100% worth it. You will never want to eat your chicken and biscuits any other way, and your family is certain to love it.

Ingredients to Make Spicy Chicken:

    • ½ cup buttermilk
    • Breading:
    • 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
    • 1 tsp. Salt
    • ¾ tsp garlic powder
    • ¾ tsp paprika
    • ½ tsp Cayenne pepper
    • ½ tsp cajun seasoning
    • 3 Tablespoons buttermilk
    • Oil for cooking Chicken

Ingredients To Make Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits:

      • 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
      • 2 tablespoons of baking powder
      • 1 tsp white sugar
      • 1 tsp salt
      • 1 stick of salted butter
      • 1 cup buttermilk

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.

Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Slice cold stick of butter into 12 or more slices. Using a pastry cutter, cut butter into flour mixture until its crumbly looking. Add buttermilk and mix until a dough ball forms.

Turn dough out on to a floured surface. Roll into a rectangle. Using a glass or a biscuit cutter, cut dough into biscuits.

Place biscuits in a cast iron skillet. Make sure they’re touching. Bake for about 10 – 15 minutes.

When the tops are brown, brush with butter.

How To Prep the Spicy Chicken Tenders:

In a bowl, place chicken tenders and pour buttermilk over them. Let them rest for a few minutes.

Prepare the breading by adding flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, cajun spices and paprika in a bowl and mixing it until well combined. Add buttermilk and stir with fork.

Take the spicy chicken tenders from bowl and place one at a time in your batter making sure to cover both sides well. Repeat with each chicken tender. Place on a plate.

Heat Vegetable oil in deep, large pot (to prevent popping and splatter) on medium heat. Once it’s hot enough that is sizzles if you drop a bit of batter into it, place chicken tenders in oil. Cook about 3 mins then use a pair of tongs to turn over for another 3 mins. Let drain on paper towels. Be sure the temperature of the chicken is 165 degrees.

Slice the biscuit in half and add a spicy chicken tender. Take it to another level? Don’t forget to add the honey and butter as well to the spicy chicken biscuits! Serve immediately.add honey to chicken biscuits
