Are you looking for an easy way to spruce up the front of your home for Spring? Learn how to make this beautiful Spring Deco Mesh Wreath step by step. Not only does it take 20 minutes of time to create, but it’s also one spring decor item that is certain to bring a nice pop of color to your home’s entrance as well.

Spring Wreath Deco Mesh Ribbon

How do you cut deco mesh ribbon without fraying?

This is a valid question and one that many people tend to struggle with. One of the easiest ways to stop the fraying is to spray the edges with hairspray once you cut them. It’s a quick fix and easy to do but will ensure that your ends are not going to fray.

Can Deco mesh be used outside?

It sure can! It’s made of a type of waterproof fabric so this means that you can even have this Spring wreath on your front door if your porch area isn’t covered.

What’s the difference between Deco mesh and tulle?

Make certain that you don’t get the two confused. Tulle is beautiful but it’s not as solid or as tough as deco mesh. It won’t withstand the elements of being outdoors and it’s not as moldable as deco mesh, either.

Supplies needed to make this Spring Deco Mesh Wreath

Gather up the simple supplies below to get started. (and a lot of these items can be bought at the dollar store as well!)

  • 2 white deco mesh ribbon 6” x 5 yd
  • 2 sparkle mesh ribbon 6” x 3 yd (dark pink, light pink, white) – Dollar Tree or Hobby Store
  • 1 pack pipe cleaners
  • Wood Bicycle – Hobby Lobby (Woodpile)
  • 2 Dragonfly Decorations – Dollar Tree
  • Metal Words (Spring) – Dollar Tree
  • Florals – Dollar Tree or Hobby Store
  • Paint – Turquoise/black – Hobby Store
  • Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Wire Cutters
  • Buffalo Check Wired Edge Ribbon – Hobby Store
  • Pastel Yellow Polka Dot Wired Edge Ribbon – Hobby Store
  • Wire Wreath (14”) – (They also have these at the Dollar Tree)

Deco Mesh Wreath Step by Step

1. Paint bicycle and set aside to dry.

2. Glue floral sprigs in the bicycle basket.

Cutting the Deco Mesh Ribbon

3. Cut both rolls of white deco mesh ribbon to 8” lengths.

4. Cut light pink and dark pink sparkle mesh ribbon to 8” lengths. Allow these cut lengths to curl up naturally.

Securing the Deco Mesh Ribbons

5. With wire cutters, cut pipe cleaners in half. *Leave one pipe cleaner full length.

6. The pipe cleaner halves will be used to secure two ribbons together as well as attach them to the wire wreath.

7. The white deco mesh ribbon will naturally curl and roll-up. Attach two of these together in an X shape with the pipe cleaners, twisting two or three times. Repeat this with one of the cut white deco mesh ribbon and one of the cut pink sparkle ribbons.

Tip – The pink sparkle ribbons don’t roll naturally, so you need to scrunch these up in the center with your fingers and secure the middle of the ribbons together with a pipe cleaner.

Attaching the Deco Mesh Ribbon to Wired Wreath

8. Repeat until all the ribbons are attached to pipe cleaners in the following patters: two white deco mesh ribbons secured together, one white deco mesh and one dark pink sparkle mesh ribbon, and one white deco mesh with light pink sparkle ribbon.

9. With all your ribbons cut, and tied together with pipe cleaners, you can now attach them to the wire wreath. There are four rings on the wreath, as you feel the pipe cleaners through, flip over the wreath and twist the pipe cleaners to the rings.

10. Alternate between the bottom two rings, middle two rings, and top two rings to completely cover the wreath. Also, alternate between the colors of the ribbon.

Making the front bow centerpiece

11. To make the bows, fold over the yellow ribbon six times, leaving a 4-5” tail. The yellow ribbon should be folded in lengths of 6”. The buffalo check ribbon should be folded in lengths of 4” and leave a tail of 4-5” as well. Leaving the ribbons folded, fold in half again to find the center.

12. Cut two small snips into the center of each side of the ribbon. Do not cut all the way through.

13. Center the snipped buffalo check and pastel yellow ribbons and tie a full-length pipe cleaner around them, twisting tight. Separate the bows by grabbing two and twisting in opposite directions. Continue to fluff and twist into the desired look. Insert the bows’ pipe cleaner through the wire wreath and secure the bow to the wreath.

14. Cut a length of yellow pastel ribbon and weave around the wreath.

Glue any extra accessories to Spring Wreath

15. Hot glue the painted wood bicycle, the word “spring”, the dragonflies, and the florals to the wreath.

There you have it! A Beautiful DIY Spring Wreath that is so easy to make and will freshen up your front door for Spring.
