Wreaths aren’t just for hanging on your door! Did you know the symbol of the wreath has been passed down for centuries as far back as Ancient Greece? The green around the wreath symbolizes strength as evergreens can last through harsh winters.

The circular appearance represents a circular ring of continuing life or eternal life in the Christian religion. Wreaths Carry Many Meanings And Messages Into Christmas. Wreath cookies are the perfect way to celebrate both the historical celebrations of the holiday spirit as well as make the perfect treat for after dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1 1/8 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • Green food coloring
  • Red hots
  • Green fondant
  • Green Betty Crocker decorating frosting

Directions

Here is a demonstration of how I cut out the shape of the wreaths. I used a large scalloped circle cookie cutter to cut out the outside of my wreaths and then used a smaller scalloped circle to cut out the inside.

Also note, while my cookies were cooling, I rolled out my green fondant in between two pieces of parchment paper and used a tiny diamond to cut out two diamonds per cookie.

I dabbed some frosting into the left corner of each cookie and stuck on my two diamond fondant pieces. Then, I dabbed a small amount of frosting on the bottom of three red hots and onto the top of the fondant. Finally, I spread out a very thin layer of frosting onto the top of the wreath and topped with sprinkles.
