Georgia Winter Bucket List – Be Adventurous This Winter

Whether you’ve lived in Georgia your entire life or are just visiting, we hope our Georgia Winter Bucket List will inspire you to create one of your own. There’s so much to do, from seeing a broadway show to ice skating. Better get busy!

Be Adventurous

Enjoy ice skating at Avalon in Alpharetta with your kiddos. From November through January, there’s also a holiday light display.

Experience Atlanta’s best laser tag arena at the Urban Jungle. They’ve also got an indoor rock climbing wall!

Go bowling at the Painted Pin.

Parts of our great state don’t get much snow, so we’re going to reference this list if we run out of ideas. 52 Ways to Play Outside in Winter Without Snow

Go Swimming

Too cold to take a dip? Never! These indoor pools are open year-round:

South Cobb Aquatic Center
Bogan Park
Cherokee County Aquatic Center
Cumming Aquatic Center

Each county has its own recreational center so check to see if your local area has an indoor swimming pool (or two!) that you can visit this winter.

Learn a Little Something

Head indoors to learn a thing or two at these fun and educational spots:

First and foremost, obviously it’s the perfect time to visit the Atlanta Zoo! Why? Because many of the animals enjoy the cooler weather. Go on a sunny day and you’ll see the animals out in their habitats.

Center for Puppetry Arts – Watch a puppet show, and even make your own puppets to take home.

Children’s Museum of Atlanta – Hands-on interactive exhibits to keep the kids busy all day long.

Take a tour of CNN Studios – I really want to do this one!

Delta Flight Museum – For all aviation fans.

Fernbank Museum – See the largest dinosaurs in the world. Plus, the floors in the museum are made of 40,000 limestone tiles featuring fossils dating back to the Jurassic period.

Georgia Aquarium – Informative and fun!

Jimmy Carter Presidential Library – Everyone loves learning about past Presidents!

Legoland Discovery Center – Hands-on learning fun for kids (and grown-ups).

World of Coca-Cola – Sample more Coca-Cola than you ever cared to.

Do you have a little astronaut in your life? I highly recommend one of Georgia’s awesome planetariums.

Take the little ones gem mining at Lilly Pad Village in Blue Ridge.

Head to the drive-in.

Enjoy Beautiful Views

Winter in Georgia offers some of the most scenic views around. They’re worth driving to, especially if it’s not too frosty. The absolute best views can be experienced on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. Near Christmas, it’s set up as the Polar Express which is loads of fun! Dress in PJs and head to the Polar Express to create memories the entire family will cherish for years to come.

Take in the panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean while you take the family ice skating at Jekyll Island Skating Village. It’s open November through January.

Just minutes from downtown, Snow Mountain is a popular winter destination in Georgia.

Drive along Highway 246 for a breathtaking view of the North Georgia Mountains.

Cloudland Canyon features gorgeous frozen waterfalls, while Blood Mountain has some of the most incredible views you’ll find in the entire state.

No matter where you visit, be sure to slow down. Relax and enjoy Georgia. Don’t forget to purchase your CityPass to some of these awesome places.
