Patriotic Funfetti Cake Truffles Recipe

When my sweet tooth hits, there is no stopping it. I am whipping up some fun stuff in the kitchen for the 4th of July this year and ya’ll are going to love it. Introducing these Patriotic Funfetti Cake Truffles. These are so delicious; your own taste buds will be begging you for more!

I have always been a lover of all-things-truffles. I am even more in love with truffles now that I know how to make them in my own home. So many layers of decadent deliciousness.

All you need are just a few of these simple ingredients.

Ingredients for Funfetti Cake Truffles Recipe:

  • 1 (15.25 oz) Pillsbury blue raspberry cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water1 cup vanilla frosting (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1/4 cup red, white and blue jimmies sprinkles
  • 1/2 cup Wilton red candy melts
  • Patriotic star sprinkles

Step by step preparation guide:

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 baking pan and set aside.  Add the cake mix, eggs, oil and water to a large mixing bowl.   Mix on medium speed with an electric mixer until all the ingredients are well incorporated.

Pour into your prepared baking pan and bake for 10-12 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Allow the cake to completely cool for 45 minutes.

Easy to make patriotic recipe

Once cooled, break the cake up into small pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.   Add 1 cup of vanilla frosting and the red, white and blue jimmies sprinkles. Mix well.  Cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes for easier handling.

Line a large cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper. Set aside. Roll the chilled cake mixture into 1 inch balls and place on the lined cookie sheet.

In a double boiler pan (or a Wilton candy warmer), melt the red candy melts under medium heat.  Stir occasionally until melted and smooth.  Dip each cake ball into the melted red chocolate and place on the lined cookie sheet.

Immediately sprinkle with the patriotic star sprinkles before the chocolate hardens.
