Instant Pot Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy is the ultimate comfort food. This timeless classic recipe brings together savory beef patties and a rich and flavorful gravy for a convenient and effortless homemade meal in no time.
Ingredients:
Mashed Potatoes
- 6-8 potatoes peeled and cut in half
- 2 cups water
- 4 tablespoons butter 1/4 to 1/2 cup milk
- salt and pepper
Steak & Gravy
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup crushed crackers
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- salt and pepper
- 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1/2 cup onion diced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- salt and pepper
Optional to thicken gravy
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons cold water
Instructions:
1. Start by placing the trivet into the instant pot and place potatoes on top of the trivet.
2. Then add 2 cups of water and close the lid of the instant pot and lock it. Close the pressure release valve. Set the instant pot to Steam for 10 minutes.
3. Next, transfer the cooked potatoes to a large bowl and mash.
4. Add butter, milk, salt and pepper. Set aside and keep warm.
5. Empty the Instant Post and rinse.
6. Mix ground beef, crackers, milk, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic together.
7. Then patty the ground beef mixture into 4 burgers.
8. Season with salt and pepper.
9. Place 1 patty into the instant pot and set to saute. Brown each side of each patty, about 2 minutes each, removing each patty from the pan once it’s browned on both sides.
10. Return all 4 patties to the instant pot.
11. Add mushrooms and onions on top of the patties.
12. Mix broth and mustard and pour into pot. Season with salt and pepper.
13. Place the lid on the instant pot and set it to manual, high pressure for 15 minutes.
14. Once the Instant Pot Salisbury Steak is complete, let set for 10 minutes. Release steam and quickly stir in cornstarch (if using) to thicken gravy. Serve with the side of mashed potatoes.
