Deco Mesh Wreaths are such a creative and thoughtful gift to give to any family member during any Holiday, Birthday, or special occasion. In fact, they have come quite popular to make lately. I recently made this Spring Mesh Wreath that I think you will love.
There are plenty of Deco Mesh wreaths for sale on Etsy or other boutique online shops but they can get quite pricey. I am here to share with you a step by step tutorial on how you can make deco mesh wreaths easily:
List of supplies needed to make Deco Mesh Wreaths:
- Wire Wreath Frame (Walmart sells these too)
- Mesh Ribbon (Long) 1 should be enough to make one wreath 21″ by 10 Yard
- Mesh Ribbon (Short) 6″ by 10 Yard
- Tube Ribbon
- Door hanger
- Pipe Cleaners (I purchased pipe cleaners to match my mesh ribbon)
- Extra matching ribbons
- Wooden letters & designs
- Scissors
- Small Screw Hooks & Wire (Hang/Hook Letters)
How To Make Deco Mesh Wreaths: Step by Step Instructions
- Add twist ties to your frame. Place them about 3″ apart and alternate/zig zag the pattern of the ties. Meaning place one on the top wire, then the second from the bottom; Place one on the second from the top and then the bottom. Twist the ties on tightly.
- Begin by folding over about 6″ of your mesh to create a hem. Scrunch it together and attach it to the wire frame with the twist tie. Twist tightly.
- Continue by using about 8″ of mesh and scrunching it and attaching it to the twist ties on the wire frame. Continue all the way around the wreath frame. I used the entire roll of mesh for one wreath.
- To finish, bunch the end together and attach to an existing twist tie or add a new twist tie and attach.
- Fluff your mesh in an appealing way by moving it around a bit on your frame.
- Add your floral clips and hang!

Tips To Start Crafting:
- Take your time! Don’t get in any rush.
- You may not think it is looking like you planned but if you keep twisting & wrapping the deco mesh into the pipe cleaners and working yourself around the wire wreath frame adding layers, it will start to look like a wreath in no time. I promise.
- Try to stock up when the materials go on sale.
- If you are making these wreaths for gifts, don’t wait the last minute. I made six wreaths one week before Christmas and was under pressure finishing them up on time.
- Get creative with your color and materials you use.
- Pinterest is your best friend with ideas.
- Make plenty of table space room to work on.
With materials, I spend around ten dollars to make one wreath but watch for store sales and you might do even better than this!

Thank you for including the Patriotic Deco Mesh Wreath from CraftsnCoffee.com.
You are welcome Sharon! Loved it.
Hello what size did you cut your mesh and how many layers did you do thanks Deborah
Hi Deborah, for this wreath in the post we used one roll and did not layer but I have created multiple layers with several colors with others, so you would need to buy additional mesh rolls depending on how many layers you are trying to achieve. Hope that helps!
I’m pretty bad at craft stuff, but I may have to give these a whirl.
I can’t wait to see it Melissa! It is super easy. I promise.
I’m making my first wreath ever. I want to make a Kentucky Wildcats wreath with the blue and the white. I bought me a 24 inch wreath and I only have so far one big 21 inch roll of the blue deco mesh. But my question is with it being a larger wreath how much deco mesh is needed to make a 24” wreath? I’m wanting to try doing the ruffle method but I’m scared to start my wreath because I’m afraid I don’t have enough deco mesh and I don’t want to run out of it and not have enough to go on it. I ordered that roll of mesh off of eBay and I’m scared I’ll never find any exactly like it to match if I run out. Help!
Hi Kelly! Try not to make your ruffles too tight, and you should be fine with the two rolls. Good luck and I can’t wait to see the results.
I am trying to make a deco mesh wreath. The booklet I bought says to measure your ribbon at 16”, but that makes the loop to big for a 16” wire frame. The book is not very clear regarding the placement of the ties for the ribbon. Thee are Christmas’s wreaths that require two colors and Deco mesh tubbing, plus regular ribbon and sprig decorations.
Is there a measurement length for each size frame?
Hi Marlow!
I would try looping your ribbon about 10-12 inches around the 16″ frame. it really depends on how loose or how tight you want your loops. I would love to see your wreath when it is finished! Please feel free to tag me on Instagram @lifefamilyfun or Facebook @lifefamilyandfun – Merry Christmas! Winona
Could you tell me where there is a picture of your completed, full wreath. I have trouble visualizing what the full wreath looks like. Thank you.
Hi Karen! The photo taken of the wreath is in the post, but stay tuned, I will be adding more tutorials and brand new wreaths this year on the blog.
Hi Karen, there is a photo of the finished wreath in the post. However, I will be posting new tutorials this year on the blog, so stay tuned.
Do u hot glue the flowers on or wire them on?
Hi Mary, great question! These are floral clips so they just clip on the wreath. But you can use hot glue or wire them on, whichever you prefer. Thanks for stopping by. Winona
is there anything u can spray on mesh wreath to make it last longer
Hi Penny! Thanks for asking. I actually do not spray my wreaths with anything. I do however store them in a bag between holidays & seasons. If you are looking for something to help prevent them from fraying, try E6000 Spray Adhesive. You can purchase at https://www.michaels.com/e6000-spray-adhesive/10276020.html
Hope that helps!
