Families looking for a break from Georgia’s summer heat are already paying attention to Henry County Aquatic Center, a massive new water park and aquatic complex opening in June 2026 just south of Atlanta.
Located in McDonough, about 30 miles from Atlanta, the $55 million project combines water slides, wave attractions, lazy rivers, Olympic-level swimming facilities, and family-focused recreation in one destination. The new center is also expected to boost tourism and host local school competitions, swim meets, and community programs.

Four Water Slides, Lazy River, and Rooftop Views
Outdoor attractions include four large slides connected to a 30-foot tower, including open and enclosed tube slides, a speed slide, and a four-person mat racer designed for groups and families.
The park also features a lazy river, a wave rider attraction for surfing practice, cabanas beside the outdoor pool, and a children’s splash area packed with obstacles and water features.
One of the biggest additions is a rooftop bar overlooking the lake, giving adults a quieter space away from the larger pool crowds.
Indoor Olympic Pool Expands the Attraction Beyond Summer
Inside the facility, an Olympic-size competition pool with seating for up to 800 spectators will host swim meets and school events throughout the year.
The aquatic center also includes a quieter therapeutic pool designed for seniors, water aerobics, aquatic yoga, and visitors with disabilities. The ADA-compliant area helps expand the facility beyond a standard seasonal water park.
Food trucks, concession areas, and indoor gathering spaces are also planned throughout the complex.
Why Families Near Atlanta Are Watching It Closely
Large-scale water parks continue growing in popularity as families search for day trips close to major cities without needing long-distance travel.
Henry County Aquatic Center sits close enough to Atlanta for weekend visits while offering enough attractions to function as a full-day destination. Officials also expect the park to become a major regional attraction once seasonal passes launch in 2027.
Current plans list water park admission at $25 for Henry County residents and $35 for non-residents, with access to the aquatic center included.
