Do you ever find yourself looking for something sweet that is readily accessible and you don’t have to leave your house in the search of it? How about when that last-minute invitation also requires you to bring something to snack on during a social event? Then you will love this delicious, simple, and quick-to-make recipe for Rolo Pretzel bites!

Rolo Pretzel Recipe

These little individual treats are perfect for a social-distanced do or for that movie night with your best friend. Crunchy, chocolatey, and both sweet and salty – there is nothing to hate about these treats and everything to love when you sink your teeth and taste buds into them!

Not the biggest fan of pretzels? Or Rolo candy? Then make this recipe your own using another type of chocolate candy and crackers or something similar. You want a base for this one but the possibilities are endless. You can even experiment and concoct something like Reese Piece’s peanut butter pretzel treats. Yummy!

Milk Chocolate? Dark Chocolate? Semi-Sweet?

There are multiple types of chocolate on the market and they are all used for various baking reasons. So what exactly are the differences? It’s not the texture or the consistency; it’s really the taste.

Ultimately the taste you are going for in your baked treat is the one you want to use. Dark chocolate is the healthiest choice in terms of calories and fat content but it does have a strong and rich taste that has to be acquired to enjoy it. Those who enjoy dark chocolate? Love it. Those who don’t? Can tell the difference from the first bite.

Milk chocolate is the sweetest chocolate you can purchase and it is also higher in calories and fat. However, the taste of this chocolate has long been a favorite for all ages.

Another option is semi-sweet chocolate chips (or baking chips) as this one has both dark chocolate and milk chocolate tastes mixed together for a not as sweet, not as dark taste that most enjoy.

Ingredients for Rolo Pretzel Recipe:

  • Rolo Candy
  • Pretzels
  • Mini M&M’s

How to make the Rolo Pretzel bites:

Step 1: Prep

After assembling all the ingredients listed above, preheat the oven to 325° to avoid putting your creation into a cold oven.

When it comes to baking or cooking, putting food into the oven while it preheats can cause it to cook/bake unevenly, resulting in the wrong texture or even taste. Burning the food is a stronger possibility as you will have to leave the dish in the oven longer to reach the desired temperature or consistency.

Place the pretzels in a single layer on a parchment paper lined cookie or baking sheet. The parchment paper is important to prevent the chocolate from sticking to the sheet as it is melting which can ruin the entire treat.

Step 2: add Rolos

Top each pretzel with a single Rolo candy. Try to place the Rolo candy directly in the center of the pretzel as this will help the chocolate melt evenly onto the pretzel and not around it.

Step 3: Bake

Place the cookie sheet into the preheated oven and bake the pretzels with the candy for approximately 3 minutes or until the Rolo candy is melting but not completely melted.

Step 4: Spread

Using a butter knife or a dull blade, spread the melted Rolo candy evenly onto the pretzel. Try to stay within the lines of the pretzel and prevent the chocolate from spilling over.

Step 5: add M&Ms

After all the chocolate has been spread onto the pretzel, place 2 or 3 mini M&M’s directly on top of the melted chocolate. The chocolate will act as an adhesive for the candy and prevent them from sliding off of the treat which can ruin the whole flavour!

Step 6: When You’re Done

Remove the treats from the cookie sheet and place them onto a plate or similar dish. Only do this step if you can’t fit a cookie sheet into your freezer. If you can? Then just leave the pretzels on the cookie sheet for the final step. Cool the treats in the freezer (not the refrigerator) until the candy and chocolate is set to a hard consistency. You want the chocolate frozen together for this one. Once the treats are ready, take them off the baking sheet and place them in individual cupcake or paper liners for easier storage. You can store these treats in the refrigerator or in the freezer to enjoy whenever you want. Room temperature storage is not recommended as this can cause the chocolate to start to melt again and all the goodness will slide right off the pretzel.
