Dining Review: Frontera Cocina Restaurant in Disney Springs
Frontera Cocina in Disney Springs is Mexican Cuisine at its finest. This restaurant opened in June 2016 in Disney Springs by renowned Chef Rick Bayless, a famous Food Network star. Operating this restaurant is Vista Springs, which also also operates the Mexican restaurants at Epcot and Coronado Springs. I had the pleasure of dining here with some friends during BlogHer Conference week in Orlando. This restaurant came recommended to me by my friend over at Fit Disney Mom.
Restaurant Atmosphere at Frontera Cocina
When you first walk into Frontera Cocina you are surrounded by a contemporary Mexican atmosphere with open kitchen and vibrant colors. The energy in this restaurant will not be unnoticed. There is an ambiance of artisan glass in Mexico and mosaic tile uses throughout. The restaurant seats maybe a couple hundred but is smaller than most Disney restaurants so it will gives you that more intimate feeling.
Frontera Cocina Dinner Menu
What to expect here is delicious menu items such as freshly made salsas and guacamole, dishes like Carne Asada, and their famous margaritas infused with natural fruit juices. My Asada steak was grilled to perfection.
You can’t forget to notice and enjoy the house-made fresh corn tortillas. I really was impressed with the presentation of these dishes and of course I enjoyed a tasty Watermelon Pink Flamingo with my meal. We had dinner at Frontera Cocina, but they do offer a lunch and quick service menu selection as well.
Tips When Dining At Frontera Cocina:
This restaurant can be included in your Disney Dining Plan options. I recommend making reservations ahead of time because the restaurant will be crowded and you will have to wait. The main dining area is packed and tends to get loud but this is certainly a plus with families who have small, rowdy little ones. There is a good kids menu available.
If you order the chips and salsa, just be mindful they are not complimentary and the salsa serving is small, but still really tasty. You must try their margaritas but be prepared for the sticker price of $15. By the way, they do have a walk-up window option for fast take-out as well.
My Overall Thoughts of Frontera Cocina:
My amazing margarita was $15 but I was a little disappointed in the size so I didn’t want to pay for a second at that price. My meal was split with a friend and I found it was plenty food for us; however, if you are coming super hungry I wouldn’t advise splitting. In other words, the portion sizes were just okay. I felt the menu items were a tad bit expensive but you are in Disney and I would definitely dine here again when I have a hankering for some Mexican cuisine.
Disney Springs offers just about everything from entertainment, unique dining, and shopping! The next time you are in Disney Springs, make sure to dine at Frontera Cocina for some delicious Mexican cuisine!
