10+ Things You Should Know About the Georgia Renaissance Festival
[contentblock id=8 img=gcb.png]
My family and I recently had the opportunity to attend this year’s 2016 Georgia Renaissance Festival in Fairburn, GA. My children and I love going to the Renaissance Festival each year! It has become a tradition. We love the food & drinks, the entertainment, the shopping . It is always exciting and new every time we visit.
If you have never been to the Georgia Renaissance Festival, there are 10+ things you should know before you go:
Arrive Early
We went on a Saturday and didn’t arrive until after 12:00 . Although we had six hours to explore we did not get to see & do everything. I would suggest arriving when they first open. In most cases this is 10AM. The parking lot was very crowded so we had to walk quite a ways to get to the entrance. When you have been there all day and have to walk all the way back to your car, this may not be ideal especially with little ones.
Dress Up In Character
This year we did not dress up but now I wish we had. It was amazing to see all the visitors in costume – including the adults. You will fit right in with the performers if dressed in costume. There are some super awesome costumes on Amazon that are very inexpensive.
Come With Cash
Although the festival did have an ATM’s many of the food vendors only accept cash. If you have daughters or a niece like mine, they will want to buy a pretty flowered headband, butterfly wings or even some unique jewelry!
I would recommended bringing some singles as well. The performers are paid for working the festival but they do make a living off of tips. You will want to leave them a tip because they really do a great job!
Make Sure To Get A Schedule
The shows are scheduled at various times so you definitely want to check your schedule. All the shows are fantastic and you don’t want to miss a thing. The performers do perform more than once throughout the day so if you miss a performance you have another chance.
Wear Comfortable Shoes
The entire festival is graveled. You definitely do not want to be wearing sandals or flip flops. You also will be doing alot of walking.
Try the Different Food Selections
You can’t go to the Renaissance festival without trying some of their unique snacks and food. My favorites are the fried green beans, smoked turkey legs, fried oreos, and macaroni & cheese on the stick. But all the food is delicious!
Don’t Miss Student Day
Although this year this has already passed, each year the GA Renaissance Festival offers student day for teachers, homeschool families and students. This includes workshops, demonstrations, and classes for a wonderful learning experience. Your child will be exposed to art, history, theater, language and more. We participated in this a few years ago with a homeschool group and it was wonderful!

Overall my family and I had a wonderful time at the Renaissance Festival. Because we did not get to see or do everything I definitely plan to go back in the next couple of weeks. They only come into to Atlanta once a year so you better visit while you can. I think my favorite part of the Renaissance Festival was the fire show & the jousting. My girls especially loved the performers and admired all the costumes.
My friend over at Tourist Mom is running a giveaway for 4 family pack of tickets . Head over to her blog and enter now.
I was given complimentary tickets through US Family Guide to conduct this review. All opinions are my own.
