Things You Must Do First When Moving Into Your New House

Becoming a brand new, first-time homeowner is such an exciting moment in your life. So many emotions overcome you when you learn that your offer was accepted and that the home is officially yours. It’s a journey and process to become a homeowner, but it’s 100% worth it. Along with owning your first home comes a lot of responsibility as well. Mowing the lawn, upkeep, maintenance…you name it, it’s all part of the package. No more depending on a landlord to take care of things that may break or need repair. Dust off that old toolbox and prepare to test your skills as a carpenter, repairman, and plumber at some point in time during your homeownership. Are things in your new home likely going to need updating or repaired? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. I am here to share with you things you must do first when moving into your new house. I am excited to introduce you to the sponsor for this post Babbleboxx. All opinions are my own.

Cleaning Supply Checklist

Did I mention that one big part of being a new homeowner is to make certain that the house is cleaned and ready to go before you move in? One of my favorite go-to cleaning products is Comet! It reminds me of my Mother cleaning and she always knows best.

Comet® Bleach Powder is the perfect bleach cleaner for all of those tough jobs in your kitchens and bathrooms. It totally disinfects. Comet® Foaming Bath Spray is just spray and wipe-it away – simple to use and our most reliable option. Have faith that by using comet, your new home will be clean, disinfected and ready to welcome you and your family from the moment you open that door.

Replace Those Standard or Old Shower Heads

One aspect to keep in mind when buying your first home is that you don’t always get everything that you want on your list of “must-have” items. It can be a bit of a give and take when shopping for a home. For me, I love a great showerhead option and I always replace the standard ones.

The Waterpik Chrome PowerSpray+™ Hand Held Shower Head is the perfect way to jump-start your morning. The PowerPulse Massage® delivers up to two times the massage force of other leading shower heads. You can DIY the installation in just minutes, with an easy twist and tighten. Remember that toolbox I talked about earlier? You may need it for your first job in your new home!

Spruce Up Your Kitchen Drawers or Cabinets

The urge to suddenly decorate your new home is probably pretty strong when you first buy it and start moving in. While the urge may be strong, the budget may be lacking a bit due to such a big recent purchase. There are ways that you can give your home an easy facelift and upgrade without breaking the bank! The Smooth Top® Easy Liner® Brand Shelf Liner from Duck® brand provides an easy and decorative way to organize your shelves.

The non-adhesive liners are just as easy to cut and install as they are to clean. You can find them in 12 and 20-inch widths in a variety of colors and styles. They are a great option to spruce up your kitchen drawers or vanity. What a difference small changes like this can make to your kitchen!

Make Your Home Wi-Fi Tech Smart

With this being your first home, why not give it a modern feel that suits your style? I love anything that makes my home up to date with tech – and a bit smarter. The Wemo Mini Wi-Fi Smart Plug does just that. Plug it into the wall, download the app and connect the Wemo to your Wi-Fi. Once that’s been done you can control whatever you’ve plugged in via your phone! It’s as simple as using their app. This is great to control things while traveling! The Wemo Mini is also perfect for anyone who is worried about leaving their appliances on when they walk out of the door. If you have a home digital assistant like Amazon Echo or Google Home you can control the Wemo by voice, too.

YES! I always do a deep clean the day before we move it. Day one of having our new place is always a cleaning day! Top to bottom – then day 2 is moving day. Then day 3 is cleaning day again because moving makes a mess and dust. I move ALOT. I’ve moved 7 times in the last 3 years. I love these tips, I agree with all of them! Excellent read!
