Ruby Falls Cave and Waterfall Tour is an absolute must-see attraction in Chattanooga. Hundreds of years ago, ancient rock formations in the Tennessee Mountains of Chattanooga, created some of the most beautiful places to visit today. Ruby Falls is a true marvel of nature that features enormous rock formations located deep inside the cavern, the tallest and deepest cave waterfall, and amazing views from atop of Lookout Mountain.

Over the Christmas Holidays, my family and I visited Chattanooga for a week and this is a must-see attraction that should be on anyone’s bucket list. It is conveniently located only an hour and half from Atlanta, so perfect for a day trip. This day was very special because both my husband and girls had never been before. I was provided complimentary tickets for my review, but as always, my opinions are my own.

Ruby Falls is very beautiful and picturesque. The Cave Tours are a step back in time and the 145-foot waterfall is breathtaking. Yes, we were looking at a 145-foot waterfall, its light show and natural amazement that one only dreams about. You will definitely want to snap a few photos if you can get the lighting right and take a video! The timed light show inside the cave is pure magic and simple beauty at its best. There is no doubt in my mind why this will always be a historic wonder. “Solomon’s Temple” as they like to refer to the opening from where the water enters was extremely beautiful and very appropriately named.

First, let me share this is not the cave tour from what I remember when I was younger. It is so enhanced and even more unbelievable. The tour was about an hour and a half and was a little under a mile. The Cave Tours offer three options. Option one is the guided regular tour. Options two is the Lantern Experience. Option three is the Extended Cavern Experience. We experienced the regular tour.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, humorous and had a very kindred spirit which made our tour all the more enjoyable. The walking was great. Not too much walking, gentle and a few sloops. There is so much beauty and geology along the way that you really do not have time to focus on the actual walking. You may be a little chilly, as the temperature is always a steady 60 degrees. So I would bring a light jacket or sweater.

Ruby Falls Inside The Cave

The natural formation of the caves and even Lookout Mountain was a true natural history lesson within itself. Looking at the natural formations and considering all the details of how it was formed over at least two hundred and forty years ago from shale, sand, pebbly sand and earthquakes is definitely a historic wonder.

More Holiday Fun at Christmas Underground at Ruby Falls

Don’t miss out on this amazing holiday experience at Ruby Falls. It’s a magical experience that leads you right to Santa! Everyone in your family will be able to travel in a secret cavern that is certain to express.

The secret cavern is headed towards the North Pole but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a lot of fun holiday things to see along the way. You and your family will love being able to view the Sugar Plum Fairy Village, the Polar Creek, the glittering ice cave, and more!

(and if you buy your tickets to the Christmas Underground with your tickets to the Ruby Falls Waterfall tour, you can save even more money!)

These tickets tend to sell out quickly so it’s a good idea to book in advance. The price per person is $16.95 over the age of 3. Your admission includes fun activities, a digital photo with Santa, and so much more!

This truly is a delightful way to incorporate even more of the holiday spirit. If you can make it happen, do so. You’re not going to regret it!

After our trip, I know for a fact that my family and I will definitely be making another visit back to Ruby Falls soon.
