The onUp Experience at SunTrust Park
Braves fans rejoiced as their team christened their new home with a victory last Friday. The entire city has kept an open-eye to the Braves this offseason not only because they are due for a promising year, but because of the inauguration of SunTrust Park. Fans were promised the ultimate stadium, and SunTrust delivered with a modern and interactive experience for all ages. This was a hosted event but all opinions are my own.
You can find one of the many noteworthy features of the park just outside of the centerfield gate at SunTrust’s onUp Experience. All guests are invited to get drafted by creating an ID badge complete with a selfie and QR code that can keep track of your experience.
Once drafted, you’re free to roam through the hands-on stations at your own pace. You can dress up in Braves gear and pose for your own baseball card, take the ultimate quiz about the proud Braves history, and even sit in 680 The Fan broadcasting chairs.
If you come immediately before or after game time, you may even catch a live broadcasting! My personal favorite stop was the Bat onUp simulation. This station is like a virtual home run derby. Rather than using an actual bat, sensors pick up your swinging motions. Sure, it took me a while time to get my timing down, but it was a good laugh for the first few swings.
Lastly, touchscreens lined a wall displaying various quizzes on them. These quizzes were different from the trivia quiz in that they were packed with financial and investment statistics courtesy of SunTrust.
As a college student, some of the information was new to me, and I found it highly informative. From virtual games to financial trivia, Suntrust’s onUp Experience entertains and adds another element to this ballpark atmosphere. If you make it out to see the Braves this season, make sure to stop and get drafted!
