Myrtle Beach Pelicans Baseball Game – A Day of Family Fun!
We love Myrtle Beach for family vacations because the location has so much to offer – delicious food & fun, family entertainment. Of course on our past visits here, we hadn’t had the chance to attend a baseball game so this year was our first. If you didn’t know this already, Myrtle Beach has a local Minor League Baseball Team called the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. They are a single A division and at one point affiliated with the Atlanta Braves but now with the Chicago Cubs. Growing up my husband did not have cable so the only two baseball teams they could watch on their T.V. screen was the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. So obviously my husband is a huge Chicago Cubs fan!
The first place he wanted to head when we arrived was to their ProShop to purchase a souvenir. Which by the way if you can’t make it to a game but would like to stop by their shop, they are open Monday through Friday from 10:00AM – 5:00PM plus all local games. You can’t go to a Pelicans Game without wearing something to support the team. My husband was like a kid in a candy store. He picked up a MB Pelicans Bucket Hat and the minute he placed it on his head he knew that was made just for him!

When you go to a Pelicans Game like any game, chances are you might have some opportunities for autographs. We were able to get baseballs signed and watched a little batting practice before the game started. If you are lucky the players may even throw you a ball or two from the field.
My family and I were provided a tour of the baseball facility. It was a gorgeous set up and surprisingly seats over 6000+ fans. They have completed a lot of new renovations and have done a great job incorporating their new affiliate Chicago Cubs into the facility all around.
We also took a tour up to the technical and video room. We met the game broadcast support team, the technical video team and the play by play announcers. I didn’t realize how many people it took behind the scenes to assure the baseball game ran so smoothly. Stats always have to be tracked for the players and the game is always recorded.
We were invited to sing “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” in the upper stands, shouting out the lyrics to the fans. We may have sounded off tune quite a bit but we didn’t care. We had so much fun.
I think the Pelicans’ Mascots were having a lot of fun with us too. We couldn’t stop smiling and giggling with their silly antics. Splash was trying to bite my head off 🙂
He is also very photogenic!
After the hosted tour we sat down to watch some baseball! The best part of the day. We had great seats but there was not a bad seat in the house!
The food and beer was delicious so make sure to grab a bite before or during the game. Food ranges from the usual hot dogs & hamburgers but they also offer a variety of other foods all around the stadium. May I suggest the Clark & Addison Grille – their food was fantastic cooked fresh to order.
We had so much fun at the game! The weather was beautiful and most importantly the Pelicans won the game. At the end of the game, we went down to speak to some of the players and my daughter was lucky enough to be given a bat! She was so excited and felt very special. My family & I will remember this day always.
If you are ever in Myrtle Beach area for vacation, I highly recommend a Pelicans baseball game. Fun for the entire family.

That sounds like a great way to spend a little family time. I actually love watching minor league ball a lot more than major league ball.

How fun! My kids love to go to baseball games, but we’ve never had a private tour before. That would be something they’d remember forever.
