How To Keep Kids Physically Active During School Break

Staying active and busy is a part of my family’s life. If you know me at all, you know we’re always traveling and staying active. I love being active with my girls because it means we are building our self-confidence and our physical well-being. I try to think of new ways we can be active and healthy, especially during school breaks.

How To Keep Kids Physically Active During School Break

Maybe you’re looking for a way to keep your kids active, especially over break? A great way to encourage your kids to be more physically fit is by making it fun. There are a lot of different ways you can do this, from going on walks to just enjoying physical recreation activities together.

Ride bikes

We love spending time, on the weekends, riding bikes. Finding fun activities like riding bikes burn calories too and it allows the entire family to get out of the house more often and enjoy nature. Pack a picnic and spend the day exploring new bike trails. Not only is this a great way to stay active and spend time together, but you will be soaking up more vitamin D and getting all that fresh air.

Have Outdoor Play Time

There is nothing wrong with just going outside to your front or backyard and playing with
the kids. You can play catch with your kids, kick around a soccer ball, throw a Frisbee, or simply play a game of tag.

Take a Walk After Dinner

Make it a habit to go for a walk each evening after dinner. It starts a healthy habit that the entire family gets involved in. You can walk around your neighborhood, if you prefer, or visit your local park and take advantage of the nature trails. If my girls had to tell you one thing that they love, it would be exploring new trails and enjoying nature.

There will always be a few weeks during the school year, in which school will not be in session, not to mention some three and four-day weekends thrown in, sporadically. It is still important to keep our children active during these school breaks. That’s why we love the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. They are active all year round, ready to keep young minds on track, and give them the tools they need for a successful future. The caring mentors are there to teach them how to make healthy choices, by eating right, and staying active. In partnership with the Anthem Foundation and The Coca-Cola Company, Boys & Girls Clubs of America offers the Triple Play program to kids and teens in its Clubs across the country. They are devoted to guide the youth to make positive choices, concerning their minds, bodies, and souls. They will help them learn how to make the right choices in life, get along in society, and most importantly, instill self-confidence.

There are 4,300 Clubs across the nation, just waiting to accept your children into their programs. Trained professionals help more than 4 million kids and teens stay engaged in safe, yet fun activities, during non-school hours. Today, it takes a village to raise children and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. are a part of that village.
