Dollywood With My Family – Smoky Mountain Christmas
It was our first time visiting Dollywood, located in Pigeon Forge, TN. Our daughter lives about an hour away and has season passes. So when visiting her and the grandboys over Christmas, she made the suggestion for us to all go to Dollywood for the day. Growing up, I had always wanted to visit Dollywood and I could remember as a little girl when it was named Silver Dollar City. So I was so excited when she made the suggestion for us to go. We got to spend some time with the grandboys too which made it a perfect day! I received complimentary tickets for my review. All opinions are my own.
We visited with an open mind and heart because we really did not know what to expect. Well, it was really a pleasant surprise. It was even more special during their Smoky Mountain Christmas beautifully decorated and lit up! It was really chilly that day but we all bundled up well. We were committed to staying all day but it got too cold for our grandsons, so they ended up leaving around dinner time. We, of course, stayed until it closed.
Dollywood is open nine months of the year and at Christmas. The one hundred and fifty acres park is very family oriented and fun no matter what the size of your family. Whether you are age two or one seventy-two there is something to enjoy for everyone. Dollywood truly embraces the entire family. After all, Dollywood was a huge vision of Dolly Pardon for families to enjoy each other no matter what the family size.
Dollywood has a vast collection of rides and is unique with hosting festivals and events. There is so much more to Dollywood than rides. They host festivals and events such as the Smoky Mountain Christmas, Festival of Nations, Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival, the Country Fair and the Harvest Festival to name a few. During our Christmas visit, I will warn you it was pretty crowded so we did not get to enjoy many rides or shows. We did, however, ride Wonder Wheel, Barn Stormer, Fire Chaser Express and Rockin’ Roadway. Those were really fun and my girls enjoyed them very much! My grandson especially enjoyed Wonder Wheel.
We did manage to catch the last show of the evening, Christmas in the Smokies. That was a nice way to end the night; a beautiful performance and one of Dollywood’s greatest traditions! The singers, dancers, and musicians were all very talented and performed some of my holiday favorites.
